Emergency lighting should be tested monthly with a short functional test and annually with a full-duration test, recorded in a log book.
All new lighting circuits are installed and tested to BS 7671:2018+A4:2026, the current IET Wiring Regulations, and recorded on an Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC), or a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate (MEIWC) for smaller changes. Part P applies to homes rather than commercial premises.
