What is Mo's Solar Mission?
Mo's Solar Mission is a community initiative to help fund a solar installation for a nominated school. People can nominate a real school, build support through votes and sharing, and help grow the donation pot.
How do I nominate a school?
Use the nomination form to submit the school name, location and a clear reason why its roof and pupils would benefit from community-funded solar. Only publish information you are allowed to share.
Can I nominate a school I do not attend?
Yes. A parent, pupil, neighbour, staff member or community supporter can nominate a school, provided the information is accurate and suitable for publication.
How is the winning school chosen?
Approved school nominations compete through the public voting and support system. The leading school at the close of the round is reviewed before any installation is agreed.
How is a school installation funded?
The mission pot is built from community donations, sponsorship and support from the Kilowatts.uk renewable-energy network. The current target is £16,000, and the live pot is shown on this page.
What happens if a school is selected?
Kilowatts.uk will check the school, roof, permissions, electrical arrangements and installer availability. An installation is not guaranteed until funding, suitability and partner availability are confirmed.
Can I donate to support the mission?
Yes. Donations increase the mission pot and help the leading school move towards a solar installation, subject to the checks and conditions described above.
Does it cost anything to nominate a school?
No. Nominating a school is free. Votes and sharing are also free ways to support the mission.
