Help Fox Hill Primary School get solar

If you live on Fox Hill you already know the school on Keats Road. At half past three the pavement fills with buggies, scooters and grandparents, and the building behind them has been busy since early morning. Fox Hill Primary is not a showpiece campus. It is a working primary on Fox Hill Crescent’s edge, with a broad roof over classrooms, a hall and the usual kitchen kit that never really switches off. Neighbours see the lights on for clubs, the hall hired for community nights, and the same faces year after year. That is why this roof should be in the running for funded solar. Daytime electricity made on site would sit under the rooms that use it, and every unit the school does not have to buy is money that can stay with the children. No glossy promise — just a plain roof, a busy school, and a community that would rather see the bill eased than watch another winter of high unit prices eat the budget.

The school and the hill around it

Fox Hill Primary School stands on Keats Road, off Fox Hill Crescent, in Sheffield S6 1AZ. It is a local primary, not a limited company, and there is no Companies House match to mix it up with a business. Families walk in from the surrounding houses, and on dry afternoons the playground noise carries down the hill. The building earns its keep with lessons, assemblies, lunches and the after-school rush that lets parents stay at work. This roof is part of the street. Nominating it is a neighbour’s way of saying a place we already rely on deserves a fair look for funded solar, without anyone pretending the array has been measured from the pavement.

Why solar helps the energy bill

A primary uses most of its power in the middle of the day, when rooftop panels do their useful work. Lights, computers, the kitchen and the hall all draw from the same supply while children are inside. Solar on this roof would not wipe the bill clean, and no one should invent a saving. It can cover a share of daytime use so the school buys fewer units when the sun is on the tiles. Standing charges and evening use remain. Even so, power made on site does not depend on guessing next winter’s tariff, and a steadier energy cost leaves more of the budget for staff, trips and the things parents actually notice.

How neighbours can vote and boost

Mo’s Solar Mission is how neighbours put a school forward and then help it climb. If Fox Hill Primary is the roof you want funded, open the mission, find this nomination and cast your vote. A boost is the extra push: share it with people on Keats Road, Fox Hill Crescent and the streets that feed the school run, and ask them to vote as well. Votes are not a promise of panels and they are not a quote. They show local backing for this building rather than a name picked at random. Tell it straight — a busy primary, a usable roof, and a bill the community would rather see eased.
